Why work with children?
Because it's great fun and rewarding to help young children develop and learn.
You'll learn a lot about what they do and why. How they learn, and how differently they think and behave at different ages. You'll share in their achievements and be there for them when they need you. Just as importantly, you'll learn how to work well together with your team and to use your personal skills, with plenty of opportunity to be creative! It's a happy, child-centred environment.
But is it worthwhile? Yes! A good start with quality childcare and education makes a real difference to the rest of a child's life, by helping them to develop their social and learning skills at an early stage. You are also of great help to parents, who can safely rely on your care for their precious children while they work.
Working at our Nurseries
Your day is often challenging, and certainly always very busy. Working in a nursery team suits people who find it easy to work well with young children and enjoy working with others in a team, who like to be busy and creative and can also be patient, and find it easy to listen and talk to children, their team and to parents.
You can rely on a high level of support. One nursery nurse looks after a maximum of three babies or eight older children with other staff in the same room, unlike school classrooms with one teacher looking after 30 young children.
You would be based mainly in one room with one age group, for example a room with six babies, with all the resources needed for that age group; although the ages do mix at certain times, having separate cosy rooms works well for all the children and for staff organising activities because they have a similar level of needs and interests.
You can enjoy a satisfying partnership with parents, who really appreciate your care and commitment to their children.
To further develop your own skills, we support you with training options covering a wide range of childcare areas, health and safety, catering, and general supervisory training.
Our senior staff are genuinely helpful and supportive, we have excellent resources and a pleasant working environment, we have a great childcare reputation that we work hard to keep, and we organise social events and free sports club membership for our staff.
Would you make the grade? We do have high standards, but if you are genuinely enthusiastic about children, have plenty of energy, and like all that you have seen here, we'd like to see you.
Working at our Kids Clubs
If you care about children, you like being with them, encouraging them and learning with them, listening to them, stimulating their imagination and watching them grow, this could be your future.
As they get older, children want and need greater independence and control over their choices. You'd be playing a key role in creating play choices and encouraging children to explore and develop their own ideas individually or with others, ensuring that they can test and stretch themselves without risk of harm, supporting them as they develop their independence and grow in confidence and self-esteem.
You'd be organising or helping with a wide range of activities such as sports or drama, playground games, arts and crafts, board games, reading, computer games to name but a few.
Working as part of a team, you'll also have the support and friendship that team work can bring.
One thing is certain - you'll never be bored!
Promotion Prospects
For a supervisory or management career, we are now the largest private childcare provider in Shropshire and are continuing to grow so we often need new nursery, supervisory and management staff. We prefer to train and promote our own staff whenever possible, so your success will be on your own merit on our career path from unqualified trainee up to management.
It is also easy to move your career between our nurseries and our growing network of kids clubs. Skilled and experienced nursery managers can earn over £21,000 basic p.a. for their high level responsibilities, and are in charge of the full day-to-day running of the nursery, staff team and budget.
Do something you love for a living.
You can't say that about many careers but you can about childcare!
